It’s reassuring to have remarkable care
within reach because you never know when you’ll need it most.
The stresses of everyday life were taking a toll on Kim Bitting, but
it wasn’t until she felt a crushing pain in
her chest that she knew the extent of her situation. The
emergency procedure that saved her life that night also changed
her perspective forever.
“I was in ICU for five days, and I have to say, my care was wonderful,” explains Kim. “I can recall one nurse in particular who impacted my healthcare and my spirit in a very positive way. Her name was India. She was very attentive, constantly making sure that I was not in pain.”
“I had so many phone calls while in the intensive care unit. India noticed that I was just too weak to continue talking, so she removed the telephone from my room. I was grateful to have someone who understood my needs,” Kim said.
Today, Kim cherishes each moment of her full and busy life. And she has the caring staff at Leesburg Regional Medial Center’s Heart Institute to thank for it. “Now, I focus on the important things in life… like playtime with my kids!”
The Spotlight on Caring program was created to bring recognition to special caregivers who have made a difference in our patients’ lives. The honoree may be a physician, nurse, hospital volunteer, hospital employee, family member, or friend.
Spotlight on Caring honorees will receive a letter notifying them of this tribute, and they will be eligible for prizes. The most compelling stories will even be featured on our website, just like Kim’s story above. If you choose to make a donation as part of your nomination, your gift will help patients like Kim who need our care.
This is your chance to say “Thank You” to an individual who impacted your healthcare in a very positive way, and take pride in your hospital.
