At the LRMC Heart Institute, patients have access to world-class diagnostic and treatment options – from simple ultrasounds to the most sophisticated open heart surgery.

Since performing the first cardiac catheterizations in the region here 15 years ago, more than 55,000 procedures have helped restore heart-health to tens of thousands of people throughout the community.

Today, invasive and interventional cardiologists perform nearly 6,000 procedures a year, including balloon angioplasties, stent placements, pacemaker implantations and electrophysiology studies.

With the opening of the region’s first open-heart program in 1998, heart care rose to a new level. Today, LRMC performs the second highest volume of open heart procedures in the state, and recently introduced the latest breakthroughs in minimally-invasive valve repairs to the region.
