Rehabilitation Services

The goal of our Rehabilitation Services is to use a “hands-on” approach to help patients attain the most functional level of independence possible.

Physical Therapy

Our Physical Therapists specialize in the treatment of orthopaedic problems of the spine and extremities, neurological disorders, stroke, balance, gait abnormalities, athletic injuries and other conditions that lead to a loss of functional mobility. They also identify and treat problems that limit independence in functional activities and in conditions that result in pain and movement restriction or dysfunction.

Occupational Therapy

Our Occupational Therapists provide customized treatment programs for individuals with stroke, arthritis, neurological disorders, arm/hand injuries, work-related injuries and other conditions that lead to a loss of functional abilities. They specialize in treating problems that limit independence in activities of daily living such as bathing, grooming, dressing and home management tasks.

Speech/Language Pathology

Our Speech/Language Pathologists provide therapeutic evaluation and treatment for a variety of medical conditions related to speech, language and swallowing dysfunction and disorders.

Oral-Motor and Feeding Clinic

LRMC recently opened an Outpatient Pediatric Oral-Motor And Feeding Clinic which helps newborns through adolescents improve their feeding skills. When a child refuses food, has difficulty drinking from the breast, bottle or cup, or has problems chewing or swallowing, it raises concerns about his or her health and development.

“Infants and children with dysphagia (feeding and swallowing difficulties) may be at risk for malnutrition, dehydration, and respiratory problems,” said Carrie Roeder, MSCCC-SLP, LRMC Speech-Language Pathologist and Clinical Feeding Specialist.

“Parents are often the first to notice feeding difficulties, and should bring those problems to the attention of their pediatrician. A clinical evaluation may be indicated.”
