UF Health Leesburg Hospital is proud to provide the most comprehensive emergency and urgent care in the region.
Our state-of-the-art emergency room contains both an MI (heart attack) treatment center and a Primary Stroke Center. Additionally, our board-certified emergency physicians have access to an entire Heart Institute, the area's only neurosurgery team and more than 100 other specialists. All right here. It's a higher level of emergency care that makes our ER different from the rest.
Primary Stroke Center
UF Health Leesburg Hospital has advanced certification from The Joint Commission as a Primary Stroke Center. This signifies that our team provides the next generation of stroke care and seeks to maintain the high standards set by The Joint Commission.
The hospital is also designated as a Primary Stroke Center by the Florida Agency for Healthcare Administration for meeting criteria required to provide a high level of stroke care to patients. As such, UF Health Leesburg Hospital has the resources and ability to administer tissue plasminogen activator (tPA), a clot-busting drug used for stroke patients who arrive at the emergency department within a three-hour window from the onset of symptoms.
Our physicians are board-certified in emergency medicine and our staff is specialty-trained. We are the only emergency department in the region with access to a neurosurgical team.
UF Health Leesburg Hospital expanded its emergency department in 2018 to include 48 patient beds, fully equipped triage rooms, trauma-sized rooms for critical care, and a spacious new lobby. More than 48,000 people are treated in our facility each year. We have laboratory services and digital imaging, including X-Ray units within the department providing our team with quick access to our patient's results.
