Leesburg Regional Medical Center is proud to provide the most comprehensive emergency and urgent care in the region.
Our Emergency Department contains both an MI (heart attack) Treatment Center and a Primary Stroke Center. Additionally, our board-certified emergency physicians have access to an entire Heart Institute, the area's only neurosurgery team and more than 100 other specialists. All right here. It's a higher level of emergency care that makes our ER different from the rest.

Primary Stroke Center
Leesburg Regional Medical Center has attained advanced certification from The Joint Commission as a Primary Stroke Center consecutively since 2008. Our most recent on-site review for re-certification was in December 2016. Certification as a Primary Stroke Center signifies that the hospital provides the next generation of stroke care and seeks to maintain the high standards set by The Joint Commission.
The hospital is also designated as a Primary Stroke Center by the Florida Agency for Healthcare Administration for meeting criteria required to provide a high level of stroke care to patients. As a Primary Stroke Center, Leesburg Regional Medical Center has the resources and ability to administer tissue plasminogen activator (tPA), a clot-busting drug used for stroke patients who arrive at the emergency department within a three-hour window from the onset of symptoms.
Our physicians are board-certified in emergency medicine and our staff is specialty trained. We are the only emergency department in the region with access to a neurosurgical team. When looking for the best possible care from the most qualified team, look no further than our emergency room team. Meet our physicians.
Leesburg Regional Medical Center currently includes a 24-bed emergency department. More than 48,000 people are treated each year by our highly trained staff. We have laboratory services and digital imaging, including X-Ray units within the department providing our team with quick access to our patient's results.
To meet the needs of our growing community, the Emergency Department at Leesburg Regional Medical Center is currently undergoing a $27 million expansion. The expansion will include a 48,000-square foot two-story facility on the east side of the hospital with 24 new emergency beds, doubling the size of the current emergency room. The project is on schedule to be completed in the Spring of 2018.
