Bariatric Surgery Program

Different people have different weight loss needs. For some patients, bariatric surgery offers the best chance for long-term success with weight loss. Our team focuses on providing individualized solutions to help patients create a healthy lifestyle and maintain long-term weight loss.

Are you a candidate?

Weight loss surgery offers substantial health benefits; however, it is not for everyone. In order to undergo bariatric surgery, patients must be significantly overweight. Anyone with a body mass index (BMI) higher than 40 is considered severely obese and may be a good candidate. Those who are somewhat less obese but are suffering from heart disease, hypertension, diabetes, or other obesity-related health conditions will also be considered for surgery.

If you are interested in weight loss surgery, our Bariatric Coordinator can guide you through the screening and evaluation process. Call (352) 323-2043 to learn more.

Services Offered

We offer a comprehensive program that begins with a consultation with our coordinator and continues after surgery to ensure you have the highest probability of reaching your weight loss goals. Our multi-disciplinary team will help get you back to a healthier life. Services include:

  • Evaluation of surgical weight management options
  • Interdepartmental coordination specific to the care of bariatric patients
  • Pre and post-surgical nutrition guidance
  • Pre and post-surgical bariatric support groups
  • Pre-surgical education
  • Private bariatric rooms

In addition to these services, we have an experienced team that will work with your insurance company to ascertain coverage and/or arrange fee schedules prior to surgery. Unlike other bariatric programs, we do not charge a program administration fee.
